In a strong endorsement of ADNEC growing reputation as a provider of world class exhibition and event facilities, two of ADNEC’s venues - the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and ExCeL London - have won major awards at the prestigious AEO (Association of Exhibition Organisers) Excellence Awards which were held at London’s Wembley Stadium on Tuesday 22^nd June.

The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre was awarded the title of “International Venue of the Year” an honour the venue also won at May’s Exhibition News awards; Kevin Murphy, ExCeL London CEO won “Outstanding Contribution to the Industry”. The accolades follow four major awards which have been won by ADNEC venues so far this year and come just two weeks after the company was awarded a Guinness World Record for its Capital Gate tower, which has been officially recognised as the ‘World’s Furthest Leaning Manmade Tower’. 

Speaking from London, where he is part of a delegation participating in the inauguration of Phase 2 of ExCeL London, His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri said, “I am delighted that once again the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre has been recognised as the world’s leading events venue, this is one of many accolades the venue has received since it opened just three years ago and it is a tribute to the strategy of our Chairman and Board.  I am equally delighted at the recognition of Kevin Murphy’s outstanding work at ExCeL London; together our two venues are setting the standard for the international exhibition and events industry.”

In an additional endorsement of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre’s status as one of the world’s leading event venues, Colin Silvers, Rigging Manager for Melville Middle East, which is the official Venue Services Provider for the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre won the “Unsung Hero” award for his outstanding, behind-the-scenes, service to events and exhibitions at ADNEC.

ADNEC has now won seven major awards in 2009, while ExCeL London has now picked up thirteen major accolades since ADNEC acquired it in May 2008.
