Publication Date: 17 Aug 2008

Summer in Abu Dhabi closes its doors today (August 18, 2008), after a triumphant eight-week run which saw ADNEC welcome many thousands of visitors from all over the UAE and beyond.

The festival offered an exceptional mix of educational and entertaining activities which kept the crowds coming.  Summer in Abu Dhabi offered it all, from award-winning animatronic and spying exhibitions to extreme sports and spectacular circus shows.  The pioneering event has help to build on Abu Dhabi's growing reputation as an excellent summer and family destination and further enhanced the capital city's image as a preferred tourist destination.

"The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and ADNEC have created an event of which the whole emirate of Abu Dhabi can be very proud of," said His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and ADNEC, "Visitor feedback has been exceptional, visitor attendance has been outstanding and the 8 weeks of the event have run very smoothly.  Everybody involved in this event, from the sponsors such as Etisalat, Abu Dhabi Police, ADACH and Capital Centre, to the performers, to the operational staff deserves to be congratulated for creating one of the most successful events ever staged in Abu Dhabi."

Since opening its doors 54 days ago, Summer in Abu Dhabi has attracted huge crowds to its seven unique islands of Discovery; Imagination; Adventure; Fun; Creativity; Action; and Heritage and Culture.  In addition to many special guests, the Abu Dhabi Police were also constantly on hand as participants in the popular and highly educational ‘Science of Spying' exhibition.

Today is the final day of Summer in Abu Dhabi.  Doors are open from 12pm - 9pm, tickets cost AED30 for an adult, AED20 for a child under 16, children under 4 get in free.  Visitors are advised to park at Sheikh Zayed Sports City, where a free shuttle bus will take them to ADNEC.  For more information on the show, visit http://www.summerinabudhabi.com/.
