ADNOC'S CEO Welcomes GASTECH 2006

Publication Date: 9 Jun 2006

Hosted by ADNOC and their group of companies, Gastech 2006 - the 22nd international conference and exhibition for the LNG, LPG and natural gas industries will take place in Abu Dhabi, 4-7 December in a region that not only holds the world's fourth-largest natural gas reserves, but by 2009 will also be the largest net exporter of LPG in the world.

"We are delighted by the level of support we are receiving from our hosts, ADNOC," explains Event Director, Tony Stephenson of dmg world media (uk) ltd.  "We have just returned from an extremely invigorating trip to Abu Dhabi and know that, thanks to their commitment, all the building blocks are firmly in place to ensure the success of this year's record-breaking event.

There is involvement at the highest level.  Gastech 2006 is being held under the Patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and at the guidance of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.  HE Yousef Omair bin Yousef, CEO of ADNOC has sent a message to all intending to be at Gastech  speakers, delegates, exhibitors and journalists - welcoming them to Abu Dhabi.

"Since its inception in 1972, Gastech has grown in stature and in terms of attendance year-on-year, to become seen, in the view of many senior gas executives, as the international conference to attend" says Stephenson. Indeed, the keynote conference sessions on opening day and on the mornings of 5 and 6 December read like a veritable 'who's who' of the gas industry.

"Once again, we have received a record-breaking number of abstracts from people wanting to speak in the technical, commercial and speciality sessions at the event, and from these has grown a truly compelling conference programme (now available on the website athttp://www.gastech.co.uk/).

The exhibition is also proving to be a record-breaker with unprecedented demand for space that has seen us extending it for the second time by moving into a third hall at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre.  A host of 'firsts' including our 'Fuelling the Future' initiative aimed at international students due to graduate in 2007, is just one of the new innovations that we are bringing to the event in 2006. The combination of a highly topical and relevant conference, a packed exhibition, and innovations in plenty will ensure that Gastech 2006 is in every way a milestone event," he said.

HE YOUSEF OMAIR BIN YOUSEF'S MESSAGE

"I am greatly honoured to welcome the distinguished guests and exhibitors participating in Gastech 2006 in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of the President of the UAE, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I am also pleased to announce that all necessary efforts are being taken to ensure that the Abu Dhabi Gastech will be an unforgettable event by all measures.

Our interest to host Gastech 2006 emerged from our position as a main producer of oil and gas in a world searching to produce untapped sources of clean and safe energy.  Under the leadership of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, ADNOC Group of Companies have consolidated and gained a distinguished position amongst those who care and search for the latest technical solutions in gas processing in order to produce clean and safe energy.

The term 'consolidated' is vital in the sense that this is not new to ADNOC. Three decades ago and under the benevolent guidance of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan the founding Father of the modern United Arab Emirates, the first LNG plant was established in the Gulf. In the same pioneering spirit and commitment to the markets, ADNOC has committed large scale investments in order to double its LPG production. We are also evaluating and studying with great attention the latest technological developments in order to match or supersede the standards in processing sour gas.

Once again I welcome you in Abu Dhabi, the 'Garden City of the Gulf' and the City of Energy where the essence of history and a heritage of hospitality converge in a stunning setting."

Gastech 2006 is investing in the future of the gas industry with a new initiative for students due to graduate in 2007.  By working with key companies in the gas industry, up to one  hundred students from around the world will be funded to attend a special programme  'Gastech - Fuelling the Future'.

The programme is designed to enable students to get an overview of the conference and the issues raised; experience the international exhibition; gain insights into the latest key projects; network with a range of international companies; and find out how to become part of the gas industry.

Students from all over the world can apply from both commercial and technical disciplines (the Gastech conference addresses both), with successful applicants being offered the opportunity to participate in an all expenses paid trip to Gastech for the final day of the conference and exhibition. Information for companies eager to become involved in sponsoring students will find information and contact details on the Gastech website.
