ADNEC phase 2 ahead of schedule

4,000 tones of fabricated steel trusses have begun to arrive at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) as Phase 2 of ADNEC entered its next stage of construction ahead of schedule.

 

ADNEC built Phase 1 of the exhibition centre in world record time and this pace has been continued into Phase 2 of the development. This incredible speed is credited to the unique partnering programme which ADNEC has employed on the project. 

 

The Partnering programme sees all involved in the delivery of the build, including client, project managers, architects, quantity surveyors and construction contractors working together to one shared objective.

 

His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company said:

 

"I am delighted that we have entered into the next phase of construction of Phase 2 of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre ahead of schedule.  This is credit to the professionalism of all involved and demonstrates the excellent understanding of what is required to deliver a project of this scale and magnitude."

The first exhibition to make use of the whole of ADNEC Phases 1 and 2 will be the largest ever Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) which opens on November 3rd, 2008.  The expanded exhibition facilities provided by ADNEC Phase 2 have enabled ADIPEC 2008 to become the largest petroleum exhibition in the world.

 

On completion of Phase 2 of ADNEC, the exhibition centre will consist of 55,000sqm of fully interconnected exhibition floor space spread over 12 Halls, an enormous 18,000sqm Visitor Concourse, a Multi-Purpose Hall suitable for events ranging from huge conventions, to pop concerts and two multi-storey car parks with spaces for thousands of vehicles.

 

The venue will also consist of 14,000sqm of marble and a 2,500sqm production kitchen capable of delivering 10,000 meals per day.

 

Facts about Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Phase Two)

 

  • Total gross internal floor area of phase 2 is 350, 000sqm
  • 27, 000sqm Exhibition space which includes 8,000sqm Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH)
  • Exhibition halls have a clear height of 10 m
  • Multi Purpose hall has a clear height of 13.5 m
  • Project consists of 103,343 m3 of Concrete, 3179 t of Structural Steel and 2812 Piles.
  • The multi purpose hall (MPH) contains state of the art retractable seats which are reconfigurable and allow ADNEC to cater for a conference size between 250 - 6000 delegates. The movable wall installations within the MPH allows for acoustic reconfigurable enclosures for optimum exhibition, auditorium and function facilities. The staging, sound and lighting facilities within the MPH will allow for theatrical events
  • Additional facilities include a production kitchen capable of 10,000 meals per day
