ADNEC Honours Winners of its Internal Excellence Programme – the Capital Awards 2016 Cycle

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) hosted an event to honour the winners of the edition of its bi-annual Internal Excellence Programme, “the Capital Awards”.

Winners were awarded for their commitment and excellence to their dedicated areas of expertise by H.E, Noura Mohammad Hilal Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, and Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company and Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, ADNEC Acting GCEO at a special ceremony held at ADNEC today.

ADNEC launched its Internal Excellence Awards in late 2014 and totally revamped the program in June 2016 as part of sustained efforts to adopt and instill a culture of excellence, boost performance and exceed stakeholder’s expectations.. Named ‘the Capital Awards’, the bi-annual recognition provides an international platform that equip individuals and departments with best practices techniques and principles aiming to reinforce ADNEC’s commitment towards achieving its vision in the business tourism industry.

Congratulating the winners, H.E, Noura Mohammad Hilal Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, and Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, said: “At ADNEC, excellence is a quality deeply ingrained in our DNA. From world-class facilities to hosting cutting-edge exhibitions and conferences, we have always managed to deliver excellence due to one asset - our people.”

She added: “Our ADNEC Internal Excellence Award ceremony could not come at a more important time. Working in a challenging and dynamic exhibitions and conferences landscape that mandates the introduction of new services and offerings on a sustained basis, we have been able to achieve success every single time due to the dedicated efforts of our core team that is focused on realising our strategic business objectives.”

Pointing out that ADNEC is making remarkable progress across all its units, sectors and markets, Al Kaabi reiterated the commitment of ADNEC’s leadership and senior management teams to continuing to invest in the skills, tools, approaches and processes required to maximise its impact and develop its people. 

Commending the winners, Al Kaabi hoped that the valuable experience gained by the company through the excellence programme will help boost its performance over the coming years in establishing new goals and strategic objectives for every individual to work towards. 

For his part, Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, ADNEC Acting Group CEO, said: “The launch of ADNEC’s internal excellence award titled the Capital Awards – conceptualised with clear guidelines - articulates its continued commitment to shaping a culture of excellence. The bi-annual awards reflect our priority to invest more in developing individual competencies and empowering our employees to be the best they can be. Throughout the award programme, ADNEC ensured ultimate transparency, and engagement of both internal and external assessors to ensure satisfactory results and assessment credibility and quality.”

Al Dhaheri added: “The successful completion of the award programme will help ADNEC improve and develop the individual profiles of its employees, as well acknowledging their contributions to ADNEC's vision to become the leading destination for business tourism in the region and prepare its submission for the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance - based on international excellence standards – EFQM.

The Capital Awards support the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance (ADAEP) that aims to motivate government entities to improve their performance and internal work mechanisms. The bi-annual award also seeks to raise awareness among employees about the importance of excellence, quality, transparency and accountability as core criteria in creating an enabling work environment and encouraging a healthy spirit of competition among the various sectors and departments.

The Internal Excellence Awards have been divided into four main categories to cover various activities and aspects of ADNEC’s core business. They include distinguished department, team, project and individual.  

ADNEC offers 133,000 square metres of inter-connected floor space to match the expectations of a wide variety of events and exhibitions. Equipped with modern facilities and built to international standards, the venue attracted 1.8 million people across 369 events in 2015.
